A. Judge selection The judges for the Australian Sign and Graphics Awards are made up from our pool of independent judges. Each Judge is selected based on their skills and knowledge in a particular field within the Sign and Graphic industry.
B. Blind Judging All judging is BLIND because this is the fairest way. I.E. The judges do not know who each entry is from until after they have made their choice of the winner. This is achieved through the careful editing of all information provided to remove the name and any other clue to who each entrant is. All other information submitted by entrants is presented to the panel in a stylised format.
C. Judging on Merit. Judges will have full rights to select appropriate entries for each of the medal categories. They are under NO obligation to award a GOLD, SILVER and BRONZE in each and every category. The awards are based on merit and should the judges see fit, they may award more than one of the medals or none of the medals in any category.
D. Final selection methods A pre-judging category selection committee will check class categories and adherence to the Terms and Conditions of Entry and reclassify or disqualify if necessary.
E. Final Decision The judges’ decision is final and no correspondence will be entered in to. All entries remain the property of the organisers.

The Awards logo has been designed to reflect an industry which encapsulates both lettering and graphics into its products and image. The interpretation of the logo should give the viewer both an understanding of the industry’s proud Australian heritage as well as the power of lettering and graphics. The representation also offers the appreciation of the traditional manufacturing skills and the acknowledgement of new technology. Formats available for your authorised use are;
.cdr CorelDRAW all versions ( please ask at time of request) .AI Adobe version 7 .EPS Encapsulated postscript. .jpg Photo format .tiff Bitmap format We encourage all involved in the ASGA Awards to use the logo in an appropriate manner to promote the event.
May we suggest the following? - Printed on all your invoices and statements leading up to the event. - Create a web link from the home page of your website? It is inexpensive and will increase the joint traffic to both sites. - Place promotional literature in all goods outward packages from your company. - Have your staff communicate the benefits to sign and graphic makers in building their reputation and clients. - Use the stickers supplied by the ASGA placing them on goods, showrooms and any appropriate application or venue. - Remember this is about everyone gaining mutual benefits, raising the prestige and building the status of awardees in the market place. |

Terms and Conditions of Entry The entry must contain true and accurate information as to originality. All entries must be of work completed in the period 1st January 2007 – 30th June 2008. Non-financial members of the Australian Sign & Graphics Association Incorporated are required to pay an entry fee of $70 (including GST) for each entry submitted. A GST tax invoice will be forwarded by return in acknowledgement of receipt. All entries must outline the extent of originality in the work submitted for judging (ie, client supplied logos, clip art, sketchers, etc). All categories must detail the title and category of the work entered, the client, the name of the designer, details of materials, suppliers and the level of originality. Each entry requires that three additional photographs of each mounted photo are included with the entry for promotional purposes. Full requirements are detailed with the mounting instructions that will be sent to you with entry-mounting sheets. The size must not exceed 420mm x 297mm and be no thicker than 5mm when the mounted entry is finished. With the notable exception of Category 18: Self Promotion, it is important that the identity of entrants cannot be determined in the work being judged when viewing the front face of the entry-mounting sheet. Therefore no promotional material, business cards or graphics can appear with the mounted photographs of work entered. It is likewise important that photography does not include business signage or material in the background of any images to be judged that would enable judges to identify the entrant. Identical entries may be submitted for judging in several categories. In this or similar instances, a separate entry is required for each category entered. Please note that one entry‑mounting sheet with two entry forms attached for separate classes is not acceptable. Entries must be submitted to the Convenor by 8 August, 2008. No late entries will be accepted. The entrants must either attend themselves or ensure representation on the Awards presentation evening. A pre-judging Category Selection Committee will check class categories and adherence to the Terms and Conditions of Entry and reclassify or disqualify if necessary. The judges’ decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into. All entries remain the property of the Australian Sign & Graphics Association. |
